Module 3 – Relationships and The Brain

Now that you’ve learned about our Safe Conversations dialogue, you may be wondering…What is the science behind the dialogue process?  Why are these sentence stems so essential?  Through many years of clinical experience and research, Harville and Helen have discovered that the Dialogue process (and the other Safe Conversations practices of Empathy, Zero Negativity and Affirmations) help soothe our brains and keep us in a place where we can think calmly, logically and make good decisions.

In this module, we are going to learn more about the brain, and the functions for which each section of the brain is responsible.  We’ll dive into the details of how the Safe Conversations methodology rewires our brains and enables us to prosper in relationships.

By the end of this module, you’ll be able to…

  • Explain the difference between the upper (Owl) brain and the lower (Crocodile) brain
  • Describe the impact the Safe Conversations sentence stems have on our brains
  • Use the Safe Conversations tools to create a healthy brain that is capable of healthy relationships
