Reply To: Dialogue process
We did a workshop with a staff last week. It was fun since we mostly do workshops for couples and this was a little different.
The sentence stem “This remeinds me of a time in my past when….” is a little challenging at first. It is so different to go here in our conversations and requires a high degree of vulnerability.
There was a lot of feedback on how this was challenging and yet moving past the awkwardness created a depth of understanding. One man said he thought it was the secret sauce for the dialogue!
For me personally this has encouraged me to embrace this part of the dialogue and go a little deeper for myself. A lot of times I just state a general theme – ” It remeinds me I havn’t experienced this much in my past” or “I remember feeling this a lot”. So I have been trying to get in touch with a specific time. “I remember that holiday where none of my sisters came home and I felt this lonliness”. Neither are incorrect, I just notice a different response in myself. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has noticed this.
